The Adventure Officially Begins

Today, the adventure officially begins.

Heather and I closed on the future home of Twist of Fate Café, and it still feels a little surreal to write that sentence.

For a long time, this place has existed as a dream, a plan, a spreadsheet, a collection of late-night conversations, and more than a few “what if we actually did this?” moments. Now, somehow, it is a real building with a real address, a real front door, and a very real quest ahead.

Twist of Fate Café is our fantasy-inspired board game café coming to Mount Dora, Florida. We’re building it to be a welcoming space filled with great coffee, fresh food, board games, events, laughter, and community.

At its heart, Twist of Fate is about encouraging analog connection in this digital world.

That means creating a place where people can put their phones down for a bit, sit across from each other, share a drink, learn a new game, roll some dice, laugh at a ridiculous card combo, or simply enjoy being present with the people around them.

We want Twist of Fate to feel welcoming whether you are a lifelong tabletop gamer, a curious newcomer, a family looking for something fun to do together, a couple on a date night, a remote worker looking for a cozy place to settle in, or an adventurer of any kind looking for a table.

This building is the beginning of that vision.

There is still a big quest ahead. Renovations, permits, menu testing, game library building, retail planning, event design, coffee training, furniture decisions, signage, landscaping, and about a thousand other details are still waiting for us.

But today is a milestone worth celebrating.

It is the moment Twist of Fate moved from “someday” to “we’re really doing this.”

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has encouraged us, listened to our ideas, taste-tested our food, offered advice, shared connections, helped us think through problems, or simply believed this could happen. Every conversation, every bit of feedback, and every word of support has helped get us to this point.

Now the real work begins, and we cannot wait to bring this space to life.

The doors are not open just yet, but the story has officially begun.
